MELANIA

Melania is an upcoming American documentary film co-produced and directed by Brett Ratner. It documents Melania Trump, the first lady of the United States, during the 20 days before her husband, Donald Trump, took office for a second term.

Melania is set to premiere at the Kennedy Center and will be released in the United States by Amazon MGM Studios on January 30, 2026.[2]

Development

In January 2025, Amazon MGM Studios announced that Brett Ratner would direct a documentary film about Melania Trump, the first lady of the United States.  Disney and Paramount Pictures bid for streaming rights to the film, as reported by Matthew Belloni of Puck News, but Amazon outbid both and agreed to pay $40 million to license the film and produce a follow-up docuseries on the first lady.  Filming for the documentary began in December 2024, following the U.S. presidential election, with Trump serving as executive producer alongside Fernando Sulichin.[3][5]

Melania will mark Ratner’s first film since numerous women accused him of sexual misconduct in 2017.  In December 2025, a month before the documentary was set to be released, an Epstein Files photo was released, revealing Ratner posing shirtless with Epstein associate Jean-Luc Brunel.[6]
