The Marvels is an upcoming American superhero film based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the sequel to the film Captain Marvel (2019), a continuation of the television miniseries Ms. Marvel (2022), and the 33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Nia DaCosta, who co-wrote the screenplay with Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik. It stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, alongside Zawe Ashton, Park Seo-joon, and Samuel L. Jackson. In the film, Danvers, Rambeau, and Kamala team up after they begin swapping places with each other every time they use their powers.
Premise
While investigating a wormhole linked to the Kree, Monica Rambeau‘s powers become entangled with those of Kamala Khan and Carol Danvers. The trio team up to determine why they are swapping places with each other every time they use their powers.[3][4]

- Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel:
An Avenger and former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot whose DNA was altered during an accident, imbuing her with superhuman strength, energy projection and absorption, and flight.[5][6] Larson said the film would dive deeper into Danvers’ character and her “complexities” after her origin story was set up in Captain Marvel (2019).[7] Since the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Danvers has mostly been off Earth in deep space, with Larson saying she has “kind of became a workaholic, and she lost touch with her heart and with family and friends”.[6] - Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau:
An astronaut for S.A.B.E.R. who is working with Nick Fury and has the ability to manipulate all wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum.[3][8][6] She is the daughter of Danvers’ late friend and fellow airwoman Maria Rambeau, and looked up to Danvers as a child.[9] Parris said The Marvels would further explore Rambeau beyond what was established in the Disney+ miniseries WandaVision (2021).[10] She boxed to prepare for the role.[6] - Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel:
A teenage human-mutant from Jersey City who idolizes Danvers and wears a magical bangle that unlocked her ability to harness cosmic energy and create hard light constructs.[9][11][12] Kamala is in awe of being in the presence of Danvers and Rambeau, her heroes, which producer Kevin Feige likened to Peter Parker‘s appearance in Captain America: Civil War (2016).[13] Vellani practiced parkour, as it was closely linked to Kamala’s movement in the film.[6] - Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn:
A Kree warrior revolutionary wielding an Accuser’s hammer and an identical bangle to Kamala’s, who is trying to restore her homeland after a civil war.[6][14][15] Director Nia DaCosta encouraged Ashton to prioritize her agility and strength in her training.[6] - Park Seo-joon as Prince Yan: The charismatic prince of the planet Aladna, who is Danvers’ husband and ally.[16][17]
- Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury: The former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. working at S.A.B.E.R. in deep space with the Skrulls.[18]
Additionally, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, and Saagar Shaikh reprise their respective roles from the Disney+ miniseries Ms. Marvel (2022) as Kamala’s mother Muneeba, father, Yusuf, and older brother Aamir,[19][3] while Lashana Lynch, Randall Park, and Tessa Thompson reprise their respective roles from previous MCU media as Maria Rambeau, FBI agent Jimmy Woo,[20] and Valkyrie.[21] Daniel Ings portrays Ty-Rone,[22] Colin Stoneley portrays Papp-Tonn, a Kree scientist,[23][20] and Gary Lewis portrays Emperor Dro’ge, the leader of the Skulls,[16] while Shamier Anderson, Abraham Popoola, Ffion Jolly, Caroline Simonnet, and Jessica Zhou have been cast in undisclosed roles.[20][22] Goose, Carol’s pet Flerken, who resembles a cat, returns from the first film, played by cats Nemo and Tango, replacing previous actors Reggie, Archie, Rizzo, and Gonzo from that film.[6]
